Saturday, September 15, 10:30 a.m. There’s no shortage of Prickly Pear cactus here, but how many of us take advantage these beauties for anything more than landscape? There’s so much to glean from this gorgeous plant so master cook and cactus tamer Tanya Chakravarty is coming to show tasty ways to wrangle, eat, drink and prepare awesome meals with this fruit. Now is when Prickly Pear fruit are ripe and ready for picking. Tanya will teach you everything from when to pick, how to handle and prepare them – injury free. Then she will share and demonstrate her favorite Prickly Pear recipes including hot sauce, a base for drinks such as Sangria or Margaritas, Prickly Pear molasses. You’ll learn how to use these goodies and – of course – there will be sampling. Lots of it. This is a three-hour extravaganza.
