Friday, January 11 10:30 a.m.  Award-winning guest artist Helen Shafer Garcia will return to Southwest Gardener for two excellent watercolor workshops. Helen’s work is fresh and bright. Her watercolors sparkle with her love of plants and gardening. As an instructor she will help you relax and draw out your own inner artist. This class is a wonderful combination of learning to look at things in a new way and using that vision in a fluid art form. Helen will start by demonstrating a simple technique called contour drawing. You’ll learn how to paint using the dropped-in watercolor process. This approach is user friendly and adds color intensity to the paintings. All artistic levels are welcome in this class! You can bring your own art supplies or we can order a kit for you at a small, additional cost. Plan on a five-hour workshop.

If you bring your own supplies you will need:

  • A set of watercolor paints. Prang paints will work
  • Watercolor Brush: #8 Round Watercolor Brush
  • A good quality Watercolor Pad.

Or, if you would like for us to purchase the supplies for you, the kit fee will be an additional $18, payable when you check out upon registration.

Cancellation policy:  No refunds or store credits will be issued if you can’t attend a class. Instructors work far in advance to prepare materials for class and they are paid whether or not you come. No exceptions.
