Sunday, January 13, 10:30 a.m.  Helen Shafer Garcia’s admiration of the Southwest shows in her paintings which often depict plants from the cactus and succulent-filled garden she has at her home. In this workshop we will focus on the beauty of the desert. Helen will start by demonstrating a simple drawing technique called contour drawing. You’ll learn how to paint using the dropped-in watercolor process. This process is user friendly and adds color intensity to the paintings. All artistic levels are welcome in this class – no drawing skills needed! You can either bring your own art supplies or order a kit that contains everything you will need for the class. This is a five-hour workshop.

If you bring your own supplies you will need:

  • A set of watercolor paints. Prang paints will work
  • Watercolor Brush: #8 Round Watercolor Brush
  • A good quality Watercolor Pad.

Or, if you would like for us to purchase the supplies for you, the kit fee will be an additional $18, payable when you check out upon registration.

Cancellation policy:  No refunds or store credits will be issued if you can’t attend a class. Instructors work far in advance to prepare materials for class and they are paid whether or not you come. No exceptions.
